Course Description:

Course Objectives:


  1. Case Study Analysis: Dive deep into real-life case studies to gain insights into the mindset of perpetrators. Explore the motivations and behaviors that can lead to threatening situations. 
  2. The Pathway to Violence: Understand the progression from ideation to action, exploring the stages involved in the pathway to violence.
  3. The 6 Stages of an Active Threat: Learn about the six critical stages of an active threat, including grievance, fantasy, planning, preparation, approach, and implementation. Understand how these stages unfold and how they can be interrupted.
  4. Grievances and Motives: Examine the root causes of grievances and motives that can lead to threats. Identify the factors that drive individuals to express hostility or violence.
  5. Red Flags, Warning Signs, and Leakage: Discover the indicators and behaviors that can serve as red flags and warning signs of impending threats. Understand the concept of "leakage" and its significance in threat assessment.
  6. Preventative Strategies: Explore proactive measures and strategies to prevent threats before they escalate. Learn how to create a safer environment through early intervention and support.
  7. Policy and Procedural Model: Gain access to a comprehensive policy and procedural model for conducting in-depth threat assessments. Understand the guidelines and best practices for assessing and managing potential threats.
  8. The Threat Assessment Process: Delve into the three key phases of the threat assessment process: Identification, Assessment, and Management. Learn how to apply these phases effectively.
  9. Conducting Investigations: Investigating behavioral threat assessments requires a meticulous examination of subtle cues and patterns in human behavior to discern potential risks and ensure the safety of individuals and communities.
  10. Interactive Learning: This class encourages active participation and engagement. Work in groups to complete a behavioral threat assessment using the provided model. Apply your knowledge and skills in practical scenarios.
